I recently read that Google is coming up with a new os, the Google Chrome OS, which is another Linux variant, I guess.  There is nothing wrong with that, since they do have enough resources to actually do it.  But, I am actually perplexed with Google, since although, their servers are basically on Linux, and they rely heavily on Linux, they don't seem to want to really release their apps for Linux users.

I am a user of several of their products, notably, Google Earth, Google Desktop, Picasa, Sketchup even Google Chrome.  None of them are ported to Linux.  People will say that no, there is Google Earth in Linux, also Picasa, I have used them.  Yes, this is true, you may have Google Earth and Picasa, even Sketchup on Linux, I have also, but if you really look into it, Google didn't get their source codes and recompile for the Linux kernel, instead what they have done is repackaged their products with WINE libs, so basically, what you are executing are the Win32 versions of the Google products.  Google has never been responsive to Linux users, contrary to common belief, you can check out the numerous requests from Sketchup to be ported to Linux.  Ironically, most of their products have been recompiled for the Mac users, and as most people know has a *nix heritage underneath its hood.  Compile it for them but not for us.

This is what I don't understand about them, now, they want to start their own Linux OS, yet none of their products will run on it.  What gives?
